Leeds United's move for James Trafford is nearing its completion.

The Whites have been needing a goalkeeper all summer, especially after Karl Darlow departed on a free transfer.

There have been a number of links to various shot-stoppers, but Trafford has emerged as the Elland Road side's priority.

As an England international, Trafford would be an ambitious coup for Daniel Farke.

The German spoke about setting higher goals at the end of last season, and the 23-year-old would certainly help with that.

Now, as Leeds hope to close the transfer, an update on Trafford's medical in LS11 has emerged.

Has James Trafford passed his Leeds medical?

As the case with any football transfer, the medical is a big component of the deal.

It allows clubs to assess the player they are signing and check if there are any issues before they fully complete the deal.

According to The Athletic's Beren Cross, it appears Trafford has had no issues as he has now completed his medical.

According to the report, Trafford's medical took place over a number of days, first starting on Monday, 3 August, where he has already worked with Leed staff.

The Whites are now close to finalising a £40million guaranteed plus add-ons transfer in what would be a club record deal

It is said it is only the "finishing touches" left to be added.

Leeds fans will now be eagerly awaiting confirmation of the signing from official club channels.

How goalkeeper domino will now start falling after Trafford deal

While Leeds are set to announce Trafford following the completion of his medical, the Whites' business in the goalkeeper market may only be starting.

Trafford's transfer opens the door for Lucas Perri to leave Leeds, and that will mean Farke requires another goalkeeper.

Torino are the favourites to sign the Brazilian, with a loan deal routinely mooted in the Italian press.

His exit would leave just Trafford and Alex Cairns among the options for the Premier League side.

Cairns has barely played football over the last two seasons, so relying on him as back-up, should an injury or suspension arise for Trafford would not be smart.

If Perri's exit is confirmed, that should then see the Whites dip back into the market for another goalkeeper.

And it would have all started with the very first domino that is bringing Trafford to Elland Road.
