James Trafford's imminent move to Leeds United has opened the way for Lucas Perri to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of joining Torino.

The Whites have had an interesting summer regarding their goalkeeper department.

Firstly, Illan Meslier left the club upon the expiration of his contract, and was followed by Karl Darlow, who departed to join Manchester United on a free transfer.

Alex Cairns agreed to sign a new contract, while Trafford is expected to come to Elland Road from Manchester City in a £40million deal.

The 23-year-old will earn around £130,000 at Elland Road, and with him set to become Daniel Farke's number one shot-stopper, Perri's game time was always going to be at risk.

However, everything appears to be working out, with Perri now set for a medical ahead of his Leeds exit to join Torino.

Lucas Perri exit now scheduled with James Trafford set to sign

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato in an update this Thursday, Perri is set for his medical on Friday ahead of a move to Torino, which opens the door for Leeds to announce the arrival of Trafford.

Both deals are just as important as the other, as one may fall through without the other. Thankfully, everything is nearing completion.

The Brazilian is set to join the Serie A outfit on a loan deal, which will include an obligation for the Italian side to buy at the end of the season, based on certain conditions.

MOT Leeds News understands that Perri's potential future sale could be worth up to £11.9million, assuming possible add-ons in the deal are met.

The Whites were keen to offload the former Lyon man permanently straight away, but softened their stance in the end.

Trafford's move to Leeds could be confirmed as early as Thursday, though it would be no surprise to see it finalised later this week, too.

What Leeds' next steps may be for another new goalkeeper

With Perri set to leave and Trafford due to join, it will leave Farke with two goalkeepers.

Cairns is seen as the third-choice shot-stopper, while a new deputy will be needed behind Trafford.

Leeds want to sign a backup goalkeeper once they bring Trafford in, with Orjan Nyland perfectly fitting the role of what is needed next.

The Norway international is a free agent after leaving Sevilla, and having Premier League experience, he seems a smart player to move for.
