Leeds United target Kelechi Iheanacho has arrived in Yorkshire to undergo a medical with Middlesbrough, according to Anthony Joseph.

However, the Spaniard has helped another one of his former clubs, the Teesiders by allowing them to take the former Manchester City man on loan.

That move could come back to haunt Leeds supporters if the 28-year-old hits the ground running on his return to English football.

Orta decision could hinder Leeds United

Orta's favour for Boro could come back to haunt the Whites if they fail to secure automatic promotion with 16 matches left to play.

If they end up in the playoffs and have to face Michael Carrick's side, Iheanacho could prove to be the difference.

The concerns around signing the Nigeria international are understandable, his wages will be high and his goal record the last time he played in the second tier is underwhelming.

The former Leicester star scored just five goals in 23 Championship matches in the 2023/24 season for the Foxes.

However, if the Whites fail to sign a striker before the 3 February deadline and fumble their grasp on the top two as a result, not signing Iheanacho on loan will leave the club red-faced.

Daniel Farke will be determined to make sure that does not happen but the second tier is so unpredictable, so it could.
