Sao Paulo will certainly be keeping tabs on the future of Lucas Perri at Leeds United.

The Brazilian has had far from an ideal spell since joining the Whites from Lyon last summer.

He faced a shaky start to life in the Premier League and certainly faced backlash from supporters in LS11.

That ultimately ended with Karl Darlow reclaiming the number one spot in Daniel Farke's squad.

The Welshman has now gone, but it looks likely that the 28-year-old will follow him out the door.

Perri's Leeds exit will likely make way for moves at Elland Road, but could also seek to benefit Sao Paulo.

It doesn't look like the shot-stopper is going to be given the chance to prove himself in Yorkshire.

Outside of some positive FA Cup performances, he largely struggled to impose himself.

That looks set to end with a move to Torino now on the agenda for Perri, as covered by MOT Leeds News.

The Serie A outfit could pay around £12.8million for the keeper in a move that would surprisingly bag his former club, Sao Paulo, a fee.

Brazilian journalist Alexsander Vieira reported via YouTube on Friday that the Brazilian side could benefit from a FIFA ruling this summer.

He said: "Sao Paulo should receive, if the deal goes through, £640,000 from the sale of Lucas Perri. Torino from Italy is eyeing the signing of the player and is willing to invest.

"Torino has opened talks for a £12.8m deal, which is Leeds' asking price to do business. Due to FIFA's solidarity mechanism, Sao Paulo might end up earning this amount."

That will take away from revenue that the Whites can book as many fans question what this FIFA scheme is.

What is the FIFA solidarity mechanism?

It will be a small blow for the Whites to lose a six-figure sum as they look to utilise every penny to improve their squad.

Leeds' loss is certainly Sao Paulo's gain as they look set to earn five per cent of the fee.

That comes as part of the FIFA solidarity mechanism which rewards clubs for their academy products completing transfers.

As long as the player was registered between their 12th and 23rd birthdays', the club seek to benefit.

This can be triggered multiple times throughout a players career, so Perri has certainly helped his old side make a few quid over the years.

Payments are tracked and routed through FIFA to ensure it gets to the right place.

With the Brazilian starting his career with Tricolor Paulista, Leeds have little choice but to hand over £600,000 to them this summer.
