Leeds United finally look set to part ways with Sebastiaan Bornauw.

The Belgian has long been linked with an Elland Road exit after just 12 months with the Whites.

He completed a move from Wolfsburg last summer, but failed to establish himself under Daniel Farke.

That saw the 27-year-old limited to just five Premier League starts in his debut campaign.

It now seems clear that he won't make any more as an exit is imminent.

Bornauw looks set to join Hamburg as the financial details of the arrangement become clear.

It makes total sense for the LS11 outfit to part ways with the centre-back right now.

He just has never fit into Farke's squad and maybe isn't quite at the level required.

That has seen the Whites go in search of replacement options, which means it's time for the ex-Koln man to move on.

Florian Plettenberg reported on Sunday that Bornauw is set to join Hamburg in what he describes as a "done deal".

The Belgian will join on a loan with an option to buy for a figure said to be between £3.4million and £4.2m.

He now looks set to undergo medical tests on Monday before signing his contract on the same day.

Leeds can now greenlight next transfer

There has been plenty riding on the imminent departure of the defender this summer.

Reports emerged earlier in the week that Leeds will pay £6.8m for the Switzerland international.

That move has been waiting on the departure of Bornauw, which now looks set to go through.

This transfer merry-go-round can now close as both look set to seal their respective summer moves.
