Zion Suzuki continues to look like Leeds United's priority for a new goalkeeper.

The Japanese international impressed at the 2026 World Cup, with the Whites' interest emerging as concrete over the last few weeks.

The Elland Road side were said to be willing to make an offer of £25.8million to secure the signing.

Leeds face plenty of competition for the signature of the 23-year-old, with Aston Villa and Juventus said to be in the race.

However, it has consistently remained throughout the media that Leeds were the ones leading the charge.

And the latest reports out of Italy have shared the latest developments on a deal for Suzuki.

What is the latest on Leeds' push for Zion Suzuki?

Talk of Suzuki to Leeds United has not been calming down over the last few days.

The Japanese number one is still firmly on the Elland Road side's radar, but, they may now need to move quick despite being in the lead.

According to Italian outlet La Stampa, while Juventus are now beginning to approach Parma for the goalkeeper, they are "forced to manage a difficult comeback" in the race for his transfer.

That is because "Leeds are especially serious with a £25.8m offer now in the final stages of development."

Previously, it was said that an offer from Elland Road had not been sent yet, but based on the information out in Italy, it seems that may not be too far away now.

The early work completed by the Whites over a move for Suzuki, however, appears to have paid dividends.

While Luciano Spalletti's side do hold firm interest, their late entry into the race has handed Leeds all the control as things stand.

Why Leeds are not in the clear yet over Suzuki

Although Leeds look to be in a strong position to seal a deal for Suzuki, they cannot rest on their laurels.

The Whites are still at risk of Juventus hijacking a potential move, and with the Old Lady's campaign to land the Japan international starting, Leeds must move quick.

The position of goalkeeper is a priority for the LS11 side, with Karl Darlow's future still unresolved.

Darlow is currently a free agent with contract offers from Leeds, Everton and Manchester United on the table.

Last season, Lucas Perri did not offer much hope that he was the long-term solution for the number one role and entering the season with the Brazilian between the sticks would not be ideal.
