How Leeds United are central to Juventus transfer rethink after 'lucrative' Tarik Muharemovic offer
Leeds United appear to have derailed Juventus' thoughts over a move for Tarik Muharemovic.
The Whites are in a European battle for the centre-back, who has admirers at both Juventus and Bournemouth.
Sassuolo look to have set an asking price of over £30million for the defender, who impressed at the World Cup this summer.
Muharemovic impressed for Bosnia and Herzegovina in North America, despite his nation failing to advance to the knockout stage of the tournament.
It shows how well he performed, especially considering the fact that it looks like Daniel Farke's side has made him a top target this summer.
Now, Leeds may have pushed Juventus away from Muharemovic, for whom they own a 50 per cent sell-on clause.
The reasons why Leeds have forced Juventus into Tarik Muharemovic rethink
MOT Leeds News understands that Leeds will pay around £34m to sign Muharemovic from Sassuolo, should the deal go through.
There is already an agreement in place that will see the 23-year-old earn over £2.5m at Elland Road, on a deal that will keep him in LS11 until 2031.
Juventus do not hold a traditional buy-back clause for the Bosnian, though their 50 per cent sell-on fee entices them to sign their former player.
However, as reported by Juventibus reporter Dario Pellegrini on X this Tuesday, Leeds have seemingly edged the Italian giants out of the race.
This is because the Whites have offered the player a far more "lucrative" offer, which gives Juventus more reason to just accept 50 per cent of the profits that are expected to fall their way.
Former Manchester City defender John Stones has been offered to the Serie A outfit, who will now assess their options after the Whites' latest submission for Muharemovic.
However, it is also suggested that Juve may have planted their interest as a ploy to drive up the price of Muharemovic, in hopes of a greater fee coming their way.
It's hard to measure how true and effective this has been over the last week or so, but it does look like Juventus will turn their attention away from the Leeds-linked star.
Daniel Farke system may be shock to Muharemovic; here's why
Coming through Juventus' academy, Muharemovic is more used to playing with just one centre-back.
This is because the Italian giants have always been possession-focused, and a side that likes to dominate games.
However, if he does join Leeds, Muharemovic may have to play in a back-five formation, something which he's not used to.
Even at Sassuolo last season, the defender usually played with just one centre-back next to him, and he may be pushed a little outside his comfort zone at Elland Road.
But given his success so far at an early age, it seems like Muharemovic may be destined for a good career with the Whites.
