Leeds United have been sniffing around a potential deal to sign Juventus striker Lois Openda.

The Belgian spent last season on loan with the Bianconneri, but conditions were met that made his stay from RB Leipzig permanent.

Juventus are reported to have paid over £37million for Openda, who struggled for form in front of goal last season.

Daniel Farke is keen on adding another number nine to his ranks, and the Juve struggler has shown signs of Premier League quality in the past.

It seems like Juventus are now keen on repairing the situation, after they were effectively forced into making the move permanent, as they triggered the buy option by finishing inside the top 10 of the Serie A.

Leeds are reported to be in the hunt, as Juventus looks set for another change of club this summer.

Where Leeds stand in Lois Openda race

As per TuttoSport's report in June, Leeds remain in the race to sign Openda, with Juventus' phone non-stop ringing this summer with enquiries over the striker.

Despite the Whites' transfer priorities elsewhere, with the likes of Harry Wilson, Shea Charles and Julian Brandt all of interest, Paraag Marathe and Co. are said to have the finances to pull off a deal.

Leeds have asked for "as much information as possible" for the 26-year-old, who could be available for cheaper this summer.

It's said that the Old Lady needs to sanction sales after recent revenue losses, as failure to qualify for Champions League football also makes their financial needs more important.

Leeds could sign Openda on a loan-to-buy deal; this way, the Whites may not have to fully repay the expense that Juventus unwillingly splashed on him this summer.

According to a new update from Gazzetta dello Sport, Openda's Juventus exit is practically "inevitable".

The striker cost the Italian giants a hefty fee this summer, and he's reportedly on a wage of £3.4m per year, which rounds up to £66,000 per week.

It's said that Coventry City have been in contact with Juventus for their outcast, alongside three other French sides.

That being said, the Whites need to make a move and act urgently, before a clear diamond in the rough is pulled away from them.
