Leeds United have tied up the immediate future of another youngster in the form of Oliver Wood.

The goalkeeper has agreed terms with the Whites to sign his first-ever professional contract at Leeds.

Leeds announced Wood's deal on their official website on Tuesday, with the goalkeeper clearly impressing the decision-makers in the academy.

Having decided to continue his development at the academy at Thorp Arch, Wood will no doubt have designs on making a first-team breakthrough.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke will no doubt want to keep track of Wood's progress in the coming season.

Here, MOT Leeds News rounds-up everything Leeds supporters need to know about Wood following the news of his first pro deal.

How long is Oliver Wood's contract at Leeds United?

Leeds have busy this week typing down their stars of tomorrow to professional deals to continue their development.

That announcement followed the likes of Callum Mills, Loui Whitehead, and Kenneth Mensah signing terms with Leeds.

Leeds confirmed via their official website that 17-year-old Wood has now signed a two-year contract at Elland Road, tying him to club until the summer of 2028.

What has Oliver Wood said about his new contract?

After signing his Leeds contract, the talented youngster wanted to pay tribute to those who helped him get to this point.

Wood also spoke of his desire to ensure that he represents Leeds in the right manner as he continues his development.

Speaking to Leeds' official website, he said: "Everyone plays their own part, whether it's teaching me the techniques I know, or even as simple as just getting me there, getting me to training every couple of days.

"So, I know it's a privilege. I always want to represent the club as best as possible and give my 100 per cent on and off the pitch."

What do we know about what Oliver Wood has done so far?

Wood has been an impressive performer in the youth groups at Leeds.

Last season, he predominantly featured for Rob Etherington in the Under-18s side, making 12 appearances in total.

He did also gain some matchday exeriences with Leeds U21 side as well, though.

Wood was named on the bench for Leeds' U21s when they featured in the Vertu Tropy against League Two outfit Fleetwood Town.

What is next for Oliver Wood at Leeds?

Like all of the youngsters who have penned pro terms recently, the immediate aim is to continue impressing in the youth ranks.

But long term, it will be about having designs on making the breakthrough into the first team.

Wood happens to be in a position that is looking a little troublesome right now, with Illan Meslier and Karl Darlow having now departed.

It seems a stretch to say he will be in the first-team picture in the next 12 months, but he will certainly eye an opportunity there in the next few years.
