Joshua Hamilton is the latest Leeds United gem to commit his immediate future to the Whites.

The 18-year-old defender has agreed terms on his first-ever profressional contract at Elland Road.

Leeds announced Hamilton's deal on their official website, with the talented teen impressing in the academy at Thorp Arch.

Hamilton's immediate aim will now be on continuing his education with the Under-21s, and pushing to make the first team down the line.

Leeds boss Daniel Farke will keep a close eye on the development of Hamilton in the coming season.

Here, MOT Leeds News rounds-up everything Leeds supporters need to know about Hamilton following the news of his first pro deal.

How long is Joshua Hamilton's contract at Leeds United?

Leeds have been announcing several deals for their young talent this past week.

That followed the news that Callum Mills and Loui Whitehead had also penned terms to remain with Leeds, while Kenneth Mensah has committed to the Whites too.

Leeds announced via their official website on Tuesday that Hamilton, 18, has signed a one-year deal to keep him at the club until the summer of 2027.

What has Joshua Hamilton said about his new contract?

Upon signing his contract with Leeds, Hamilton spoke of his long-term aim of breaking into the first team at Elland Road.

He also paid tribute to the family and coaches who had helped him get to this point in his early career.

"I'd love to train with the first team, appear on the bench as any kid would at a club like this," he told Leeds' official website.

"Maybe get on loan, experience men's football, and just play well for the 21s. That's the stepping stones, I'd say."

"My parents trekking from where I live all the way to training was tough for them. A lot of money spent on fuel, but it's worked out in the end, and I forever appreciate them for that.

"And coaches that have stood by my side through difficult times have also helped me."

What do we know about what Hamilton has done so far?

The centre-back is ready to continue his development in the U21s side, and has proven his versatility by playing at right-back as well.

Last term, he made 18 appearances for the U18s, playing a key part for Rob Etherington's side.

Moreover, he has earned international recognition by representing England at U17s.

He made his debut for England at that age level against Hungary.

What is next for Hamilton at Leeds?

Given he does not turn 19 until September, there is plenty of time for Hamilton to develop at Thorp Arch.

As with all the youngsters who have penned new deals lately, the long-term goal is play in the first team at Elland Road.

Hamilton mentioned himself about a desire to perhaps go on loan and experience senior football.

Whether that is on the cards in the immediate future remains to be seen, but there is hope that Hamilton can continue to progress at Elland Road.
