Everything Leeds United fans need to know as Jacob Howard one of three new contracts agreed
Leeds United have tied three more youth gems down to new contracts.
Jacob Howard, Freddie Lane, and Darryl Ombang have all agreed terms to sign their first professional contracts at Elland Road.
Leeds announced the trio have penned terms via their official website, with the three impressing at academy level.
All three youngsters will now continue their professional development at Leeds as they aim to make the breakthrough at LS11.
Daniel Farke will also be keeping an eye on things in the academy, where there has been plenty of activity lately.
Here, MOT Leeds News tells you what you need to know about Howard, Lane, and Ombang following news of their contracts.
How long have Jacob Howard, Freddie Lane, and Darryl Ombang commited to at Leeds?
MOT Leeds News this week profiled young Leeds goalkeeper Oliver Wood, who committed his future to the club as well.
That followed the likes of Callum Mills, Loui Whitehead, and Kenneth Mensah all agreeing to prolong their stays with Leeds.
Defender Howard has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Leeds, that sees him commit to the club to the summer of 2029.
Versatile defender Lane has agreed terms on a 12-month contract, seeing him remain with Leeds until next summer at least.
Goalkeeper Ombang has also agreed to a one-year deal to continue his development with the Under-21s.
What have they said about their new Leeds United contracts?
Howard, 17, spoke of his pride at agreeing terms with Leeds and paid tribute to those who helped him get to this point.
He told Leeds' official website: "It is an honour. I am just proud and excited to carry it on into the new season.
"It is a dream come true, obviously, to support the club and live and die by the club.
"My dad and family have been a big help on this road to get to this place. And obviously as well, all the coaches that have taught me what they know have been massive."
Lane said: "I am really proud of where I have come from. It has been a long journey and there are a lot of people to thank. Leeds are a massive club and hopefully in the future I can make a real impact."
Ombang, who had loan spells with Darlington and FC United of Manchester last season, added: "The more fun you have, the more relaxed you are and the better you perform.
“I think I have shown that in my performances and even getting men’s experience going out on loans. Those things have kind of helped me as well in terms of my development."
What do we know about what they have done so far?
Howard first appeared for the U21s aged just 16 and went on to make 16 appearances for Scott Gardner's side, playing against FC Halifax Town and Gateshead in the National League Cup
He has six caps for England at U17 level, scoring against Australia and captaining the team against Estonia in March.
Lane returned from injury midway through last season, making 10 Premier League 2 appearances. He also started in a European tie against RSC Anderlecht Futures.
Ombang, 21, also made 10 appearances for the U21s last time out, playing in the EFL Trophy games against Port Vale and Fleetwood Town.
He made four appearances in the National League North for Darlington, and helped FC United of Manchester reach the Northern Premier League play-offs.
What's next for the young Leeds trio?
The immediate focus for all three will be on continuing their development at academy level.
Ombang in particular might fancy going out on loan again, and will perhaps eye a National League or League Two stint next.
All three will have long-term designs on breaking into the first team at Leeds, of course.
But for now, it is a case of gaining as much experience as possible to aid their potential moving forward.
