Zaidu Sanusi's future at Porto remains uncertain as Leeds United loom in the market.

The Whites are making their moves early this season with Harry Wilson edging closer to joining as a free agent.

Furthermore, the LS11 outfit are still pursuing Southampton midfielder Shea Charles after having a £20million bid rejected.

One area that could also use strengthening, at least depth-wise, is at fullback and Sanusi's situation could tempt Elland Road officials.

Leeds have previously tracked the Nigerian international; however, his status in Porto has seemingly changed.

Fresh reports out of Portugal have now emerged with the transfer window firmly open.

Is Zaidu Sanusi available on the market?

Portuguese outlet O Jogo had previously shared reports of Leeds' interest in Sanusi, citing that an offer was made back in January.

While that was rebuffed, there is now a green light to pursue the defender once more.

As reported by A Bola on Wednesday, it appears that Sanusi's future in Portugal is all but secure now.

Their article, headlined "Transfer market poses a challenge to two players' longevity" includes details of a potential move for the Nigerian.

It shares that now "there is openness to see what the market may offer" and that "there are clubs attentive to the player's situation, particularly in England and Spain."

Leeds' Gabriel Gudmundsson has recently been link with a move away from Elland Road via Swedish media.

Sanusi could ultimately join as a replacement for the 27-year-old if an exit is sanctioned.

Even if Gudmundsson stays, Sanusi may be viewed as an acceptable player who can provide competition in that position.

Are Porto and Sanusi in contract talks?

While Sanusi could end up leaving Porto this summer, the Nigerian is in contract talks with his employers, CM Journal reports.

While an "openness" over a move is there, if a suitable does not arrive it is expected that he renews his deal in order to protect his value for Porto.

The Dragons will not want to lose the defender on a free transfer next summer.

Time will tell where Sanusi ends up playing his football, but as things stand, the Whites are in a decent position to advance on a move should they wish.

The wide defensive areas are not the most pressing matter for Daniel Farke in the market, but it is certainly a position that has room for new names.
