Darren Bent surprised Tottenham didn't move for Leeds player who's 'worth every penny'

Leeds United can be more than content with their business conducted over the summer transfer window.

A total of seven new signings were made - two of those on loan - with pretty much every position strengthened.

While it is true Daniel Farke would have liked competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top, the German will be more than happy with what he has to work with.

That includes a club-record fee splashed out on goalkeeper James Trafford in a deal potentially rising to £45million.

Leeds also spent £34.1m on Tarik Muharemovic, while Harry Wilson, Nico Elvedi and Michael Zetterer all arrived permanently.

The loan signings of Melvin Bard and Jean-Matteo Bahoya rounded things off nicely, but there was one signing in particular that has impressed Darren Bent.

Which of Leeds' signings was the best?

The jury is still out on this one as there has only been a sample size of a month or so to work with.

However, on the basis of what we have seen up to this point, Trafford has been the best Leeds signing of the lot.

Signing a new goalkeeper was made a priority for Leeds as soon as it was announce Karl Darlow was leaving.

Even before that, in fact, as the reason Darlow moved on was likely because he knew a new number one was being recruited.

Trafford has certainly lived up to expectations at Elland Road so far, even if he did cost a large amount.

And speaking on talkSPORT on Wednesday evening, Bent pondered why his former side Tottenham did not move for Trafford.

Asked to pick out 10 of the best summer transfers, Bent said: "James Trafford to Leeds. Worth every penny. They needed a new goalkeeper and they reacted quickly."

When it was put to him that Spurs still do not look settled between the sticks, with Antonin Kinsky replacing Guglielmo Vicario, Bent said: "Yeah, Trafford would have been the one [for Tottenham]."

Who has been the worst of Leeds' signings so far?

Again, there is only a sample size of seven games to use across all competitions.

Still, far more was expected of Wilson following his free agent arrival from Fulham.

The fact he cost nothing - big wages aside - means fans cannot be too critical of the Wales international.

But just one goal involvement - an assist in the 6-3 loss to Chelsea - is far below what was expected.

Wilson is now nursing an injury, but hopefully once recovered from that he can show what he is truly about.
