Daniel Farke shares exactly when Leeds United fans can expect next signing
Daniel Farke has provided another fresh update on Leeds United's transfer activity.
The Whites rounded off their pre-season campaign in style with a 4-0 win over Augsburg on Saturday afternoon.
Anton Stach opened the scoring inside a minute and Leeds did not look back, with Tarik Muharemovic, James Justin and Lukas Nmecha also netting.
Leeds' focus now turns towards next weekend's Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
Farke will hope to have at least one new signing in his squad well before then.
And everything appears to be on course for exactly that to happen given Farke's latest comments.
What we know as Leeds strike Nico Elvedi agreement
Reports emerged prior to the match on Saturday that Leeds have agreed an £8.5million deal for Nico Elvedi.
However, before that transfer can go through, Leeds will first sanction Sebastiaan Bornauw's move to Hamburg.
There is not expected to be any complications in that deal, but Leeds do not want to take any risks and bring in another centre-back if they are not needed.
Farke was asked specifically about the situation at his post-match press conference.
As quoted by The Athletic's Beren Cross via X: "Farke acknowledges he has to be careful on Elvedi comments, but doesn't want to lie.
"Says there is something close with him and Bornauw on the way out. Should be a resolution in the next 24 to 48 hours."
Leeds fans will therefore only have to wait another day or two before Elvedi becomes signing number four of the window.
The Elvedi transfer clause Leeds have accepted
Borussia Monchengladbach have negotiating a 15 per cent sell-on clause in Elvedi's deal with Leeds.
That means a slice of any profit made on the defender will go to Gladbach, should he be sold.
While it is not exactly ideal, it is only a small price to pay for what is a good deal overall.
Spending £8.5m on a vastly experienced defender is a shrewd move from the Whites, who are really starting to cook before the season begins.
