Daniel Farke sends Leeds United board new transfer message with latest comments
Daniel Farke has sent a transfer message to the Leeds United board with his comments following the Whites’ clash with West Brom, according to Beren Cross.
The Whites played out a stalemate with the Baggies on Saturday (17 August) to extend their winless run to three games in all competitions at the start of the new season.
After the full-time whistle, Farke doubled down on his suggestion that Leeds need four more new arrivals [The Athletic, 16 August] and Leeds Live journalist Cross believes that could have been a message to the 49ers.
Speaking on The Square Ball YouTube channel (19 August, 7:10) he said: “Quite possibly. He definitely has the authority to speak directly to people like Paraag [Marathe] and say this is what I want.
“I’m sure he’s saying privately in stronger terms what we need to do, he has faith in Nick Hammond and Greta Steinsson and what they’re doing behind the scenes in the recruitment department.”
Are Leeds United close to any new signings in the summer transfer window?
Leeds United supporters are clearly frustrated with the lack of transfer activity at Elland Road over the last couple of weeks, but it is safe to assume that Farke himself will have been just as disappointed.
The German was brought to Elland Road to help Leeds get back to the Premier League and it feels as though he hasn’t been given the money to spend to build a side that is capable of challenging for those automatic promotion places.
Throughout the summer, the Whites boss has been clear about what he thinks his squad need and while signings like Joe Rodon and Joe Rothwell are impressive, further reinforcements are needed and quickly.
Neither Crysencio Summerville nor Georginio Rutter have been replaced. Last term they were two of the Whites’ best players and it would be naive to assume Leeds can just cope without them.
Hopefully, Farke’s message will be received and understood and there will be some more positive news out of Elland Road sooner rather than later.
