Crysencio Summerville could harm his standing with Leeds United supporters forever.

The Dutch winger left Elland Road in 2024 to join West Ham in a £25million move.

He departed with well wishes from the LS11 faithful after 25 goals and 13 assists in 89 matches.

However, he may be set to tarnish the legacy with the latest move that has been lined up.

The 24-year-old is widely expected to leave the Hammers after their relegation to the Championship.

One destination where he could end up would hurt Whites fans more than the others, and forever burn the bridges that he had built up.

Crysencio Summerville could join Manchester United

Summerville has been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham, but he has now emerged as a target for Manchester United.

David Ornstein claimed on Tuesday that the Red Devils have enquired about the former Leeds star.

He stated that he is high among the Old Trafford side's candidates for their left-wing berth.

Why would Summerville's Leeds legacy be ruined if he made that move?

A move to the Manchester club would destroy his reputation with the Leeds supporters due to the rivalry between the two sides.

It dates back to the rivalry between the counties that the two sides are based in, Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Sir Alex Ferguson stole several players from the Peacocks over the years, with the likes of Eric Cantona, Rio Ferdinand and Alan Smith making the contentious switch across the Pennines.

That certaintly did not bring tensions down, as the giants nicked most of those players when the Whites were in financial difficulty, which reduced the fees that they earned.

With Daniel Farke's side earning promotion back to the Premier League, the rivalry was reignited last season, and Leeds got bragging rights, going unbeaten against the M16 outfit.

While this would not be a direct move between the sides, he should still know better given his connection to Farke's side.

If he ultimately makes the move, then he will likely be shuned in any attempts to come back to LS11, as a supporter or towards the end of his career.

It is fair that he doesn't want to play in the second tier, but he should choose somewhere else to ply his trade.
