Leeds United to be on high alert as Aston Villa make Louie Barry decision

Leeds United will be on high alert after Aston Villa confirmed Louie Barry will be recalled at the start of the January transfer window with an Elland Road switch a possibility.

The Whites will be in the market this January with intentions of strengthening their already quality squad, with Barry linked with a move to Elland Road on loan, according to TEAMtalk.

Barry has been in exceptional form on loan at Stockport County but Villa announced their decision to recall him on via an X post on 22 December with a Championship loan thought to be his next move.

Leeds were tipped to be in the race by Graeme Bailey but will face stern competition from several other Championship clubs, with Sunderland and Middlesbrough among those interested.

Leeds United must act quick to complete Barry signing

Given how well he has fared in League One this season, Barry has the potential to be an outstanding pickup for a Championship side looking to bolster their front line, although the step up in quality could provide a risk.

Fortunately for Leeds, it is certainly a risk worth taking given the level of quality they already have in the wide areas of their attack, with Dan James one of those impressing this season.

Given his ability to play in several attacking roles, Barry’s acquisition makes a lot of sense for Leeds and the potential benefits massively outweigh any considered negatives.

His goalscoring ability from wide areas has been on full show this season and he will be eager to show that he can do it at a higher level and Leeds may be the perfect place for him to showcase his ability.

All eyes will be on the transfer window as the Championship promotion race heats up.
