Callum Wilson signs – Which attacker Farke could axe at Leeds United

Leeds United are looking to sign a new striker as Daniel Farke continues to add to his squad before the start of the 2025/26 season.

The Peacocks have already strengthened in their striker department with Lukas Nmecha arriving from VfL Wolfsburg on a free transfer.

Farke also has Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford, and Mateo Joseph in attack, with Leeds to consider the trio’s futures in the coming weeks.

Leeds have been linked with a move for Callum Wilson, with players possibly making way for the former Newcastle forward.

Wilson could replace Joseph at Elland Road

Joseph doesn’t look to be a part of Farke’s plans next season and has been linked with a move away from West Yorkshire.

The Spaniard had a poor season in the Championship last campaign as he floated in and out of the title winners’ side.

The 21-year-old did well for Spain’s Under-21 side during their European Championship campaign, but still doesn’t appear to have done enough to earn a regular starting spot with the Peacocks.

Now, Joseph could make way as Leeds push to sign Wilson.

Wilson reportedly wants to remain in England as he searches for a fresh challenge after struggling for gametime with Newcastle United.

The 33-year-old ended his five-year stay with the Magpies this summer and could bring some much-needed Premier League experience to Elland Road.

With the Peacocks’ extensive search for a striker continuing, it is almost certain that Patrick Bamford will depart, but Joseph could closely follow his fellow forward out the door.

Leeds must start prioritising a striker

The Premier League is notoriously difficult for promoted teams to score goals in.

Leeds’ number nines struggled to convert chances last campaign, and they will no doubt continue in a similar vein should they not add to their forward line.

Farke has already significantly added to his backline, but the Peacocks now need to move quickly to ensure that they aren’t caught out in the final third when it comes to the start of the season.
