Leeds United and Everton are among the clubs linked with a move to sign Newcastle striker Callum Wilson this summer.

The 33-year-old's deal at St James' Park is expiring this summer, making him a free agent.

Daniel Farke's side, after securing promotion to the Premier League, are keen on roping in a quality striker.

Wilson wants to stay in England

According to Graeme Bailey (28 May), Wilson fancies staying in England despite interest shown in him from elsewhere.

Newcastle have put a revised deal on the table for him, but that comes with a pay cut.

He is understood to be considering his options with the Elland Road outfit and Everton keen on signing him on a free transfer.

There are understood to be a number of Premier League sides showing an interest in the former Bournemouth talisman.

It's understood that Leeds are confident of bringing Wilson to Elland Road this summer, per the Sun.

Leeds must avoid taking the punt on Wilson

Signing Wilson as the first-choice striker is a risk that Leeds must avoid, as he's no longer the player he once was.

At 33, he's past his prime and not finding the back of the net this past season in 18 Premier League appearances showcases he's no longer clinical in front of goal either.

Wilson's career record.

To avoid Premier League relegation, the Whites must sign a proven, prime-age striker capable of consistently scoring 10+ goals per season.

The ideal candidate, aged 24-28, should combine physicality, pace and clinical finishing to thrive in Farke’s high-intensity system.

A track record in top-flight or competitive European leagues is essential, ensuring he can handle the Premier League’s pace and physical demands.

Versatility to link play and press relentlessly aligns with Leeds’ dynamic style, while mental resilience is key for high-stakes relegation battles.

Such a striker, unlike injury-prone or unproven options, will provide the firepower needed to secure crucial points.
