Daniel Farke has agreed a new contract in principle with Leeds United.

After weeks of rumours about a potential new deal at Elland Road, the German looks set to commit his future to the Whites.

Farke was the first managerial appointment made by 49ers Enterprises when they acquired the club back in 2023.

Leeds' first season ended under the former Norwich City boss ended in play-off heartbreak to Southampton.

However, they went up as champions of the Championship in the 2024-25 campaign.

Leeds are now in their second season in the Premier League under Farke and he looks set to be rewarded for his success.

What's the latest with Daniel Farke and his Leeds United contract?

Farke has been reticent to discuss how talks have proceeded with his contract.

Instead, he has consistently said that he will offer an update when there is something tangible to report.

Now, though, Beren Cross of the Athletic has reported that Farke has agreed terms in principle on a new deal that runs until June 2029.

Cross wrote that there is a broad agreement in place between Farke and Leeds over fresh terms.

However, he added that a source reports that the formalities of the deal still need to be finalised before Farke can sign the contract.

There is, though, said to be an understanding in place between both parties about how the contract will be structured.

Daniel Farke deserves new Leeds contract

Despite his success at Elland Road, Farke has consistently had his detractors among the fanbase.

However, Farke did consolidate Leeds in the Premier League last season, with the Whites ultimately finishing well clear of the relegation zone and making the semi-finals of the FA Cup.

At one stage, it looked as though Farke's position might have been under threat, but a switch to a 3-4-3 formation sparked a revival in Leeds' fortunres.

Leeds then conducted an ambitous summer transfer window, which saw the likes of James Trafford, Harry Wilson, and Tarik Muharemovic arrive in West Yorkshire.

And the Whites have been strong in the opening weeks of the campaign, losing just once in the Premier League - that coming in last weekend's 2-1 defeat at champions Arenal.

Despite having his naysayers, Farke has tangible evidence of progress, and clearly there is a good working relationship between the manager and the key figures at Elland Road.

As such, it is hard to argue against the fact that Farke deserves this renewal.
