Revealed: What Daniel Farke really thinks about Paraag Marathe amid Leeds contract limbo
Daniel Farke has offered his "compliments" to Leeds United chairman Paraag Marathe.
After first investing in Leeds back in 2018, Marathe later increased his stake in the club in 2021.
He played a fundamental part in helping the 49ers Enterprises become the sole owners of the Whites in 2023.
Now one of Leeds' key decision-makers, he's soon going to have to make one of the biggest in his Elland Road tenure.
This relates to the future of Farke as Leeds boss, with the German's contract expiring next summer.
Ahead of Leeds' game against Arsenal on Saturday, Farke was quizzed on whether he's got any update on the situation.
How did Daniel Farke describe his relationship with Paraag Marathe?
A strong relationship between chairman and manager is always an important ingredient in any recipe for success at a club.
When the boardroom and the dugout are both on the same page, that often leads to everyone being able to perform their roles better.
It's clear this is the case at Leeds right now, as the Whites sit fifth in the Premier League table after five games.
Leeds chiefs will surely have little interest in seeing Farke walk out the door next summer then, but the latest update on his situation doesn't alleviate those fears.
Quoted via The Athletic's Leeds writer Beren Cross on X, Farke revealed that no breakthrough has been made on his contract situation.
"I have no news (on a new contract) today, only compliments for Paraag. It's a joy to work with him and this club," the 49-year-old said.
But, is this delay in sorting out Farke's contract actually part of a broader and potentially very clever Leeds plan?
Farke contract announcement may be strategically planned
Leeds and Farke's full focus right now will be on trying to record a shock result away at Arsenal this weekend.
Once that game is out the way, however, the Whites have a week to prepare for Manchester United's visit to Elland Road next Sunday.
It's the first competitive renewal of this bitter rivalry this season, after the two played out a 1-1 draw in a pre-season friendly in the summer.
What better way to charge Leeds fans and the team up going into this game than with the news of Farke inking a new contract in the days before it?
That would really send the Whites into this clash with the Red Devils full of momentum and joy, as well as ending any possible distraction on the matter.
