'I managed Leeds United and this is what has motivated Daniel Farke amid contract talks'
Leeds United fans are anxiously awaiting to hear news of Daniel Farke extending his contract.
The German has been an excellent manager for the Whites over the years, guiding them back into the Premier League and keeping them there.
However, despite his great work so far, a new deal has yet to be issued, with the 49-year-old currently on track to leave Leeds at the end of the season.
That is an outcome that everyone associated with the club will want to avoid, especially with Leeds starting this campaign strong, with James Trafford and Tarik Muharemovic proving as excellent buys.
Ambitions are set high, with the thoughts of European qualification slowly but surely creeping in.
Now, former Leeds manager Simon Grayson has chipped in with his verdict on the situation involving Farke.
Why Simon Grayson believes Daniel Farke has succeeded at Leeds
Over the years, it has been shown that once you get promoted to the Premier League it can be incredibly difficult to stay there.
And when Leeds returned to the top flight, there were some concerns surrounding Farke's ability to achieve that feat.
Nonetheless, the German overcame those worries, with that now being said to be the backbone of his success.
As per quotes via the Yorkshire Evening Post, Grayson believes that Farke having that chip on his shoulder has motivated him at Elland Road.
Grayons knows all about the expectations in LS11, as the former Whites manager became a fan favourite during his time, which saw promotion to the Championship in 2010, and an iconic win against rivals Manchester United that same year.
He said: "I think he's had a point to prove to himself, not other people.
"He was dismissed as not being able to cope as a Premier League manager but that is sometimes motivation to yourself when it's sometimes out of your control that you are not given the tools to work with and that's probably been the case and he's shown what he's capable of doing."
The 56-year-old also went on to say that while he has no information himself, he would be "surprised" if Farke did not extend with Leeds.
And hopefully in the coming weeks, there will be news of him extending his time in Yorkshire.
How likely are Leeds to qualify for Europe?
As Grayson says, the Leeds manager has certainly proved those doubters wrong, but he will want to go one step further and show he is capable of a top-end Premier League finish.
Leeds have started the season well, and are currently in the spot for Europa League.
However, the Premier League could get another Champions League qualification spot like they have for the previous two seasons, meaning fifth would be for Europe's premier tournament.
Despite the standings after five games, according to Opta Analyst, Leeds are not currently predicted for those coveted league positions.
They have been handed a 12.91 per cent chance of the Champions League, with the Europa League coming in at 6.27 per cent.
So, the odds are certainly not nil for Farke to continue to prove to himself over his qualities as Grayson said.
