Sources share new Brenden Aaronson update after Leeds United news
Leeds United midfielder Brenden Aaronson turned down interest from teams in Germany to confirm he’ll return to Elland Road next season, according to the Athletic.
The news outlet published an exclusive interview with the USA international after news broke that Aaronson, who spent last least out on loan at Union Berlin, will play on in the Championship with the Whites in 2024/25.
Aaronson was able to depart on another season-long loan this summer, as he did following Leeds’ relegation in 2023, but has chosen not to force another move away from Elland Road.
Several clubs in Germany, who were kept anonymous in The Athletic’s article, declared an interest in taking Aaronson back to the Bundesliga, but the midfielder decided his future was best served with Leeds [Graham Smyth].

Instead, after talks with Farke, Aaronson will line up for Leeds in pre-season with a view to a starting place in the new Championship campaign, and could offer a new alternative in the number 10 position.

Aaronson did produce some bright sparks in an otherwise dismal first season at Elland Road, and if Leeds need him to step up in either attacking midfield or out wide, the 23-year-old must be ready for the day-to-day grind of the Championship.
In other Leeds United news, Wilfried Gnonto could be replaced by an ‘unknown’ player amidst talk of an Elland Road exit.
