Leeds United signed Charlie Crew from Cardiff for six-figure fee

Leeds United reportedly paid six figures to Cardiff City when they acquired the services of midfielder Charlie Crew in the summer window.

According to Wales Online [7 March], the Championship side are said to have netted “big” six figures when the 16-year-old moved to Elland Road.

The Wales under-17 international has been a regular fixture in the Premier League under-18s this season and has already netted a goal.

Building for the future

Leeds keep looking to add some of the best talents from England as they bring them up through their Thorp Arch system to get them ready for senior football.

He made the academy an extension of the first team and that’s probably the culture most managers at the helm at Elland Road will probably begin to follow.

It remains to be seen whether or not Javi Gracia takes a hands-on approach to everything that’s going on in the academy.

He was present for their recent under-21s game where a certain Darko Gyabi shone and there’s a good chance he’s going to make the matchday squad sooner rather than later.

His performances for the reserves will surely be a warning sign to Marc Roca as the Spaniard has not been performing that well this season.

In other Leeds United news, the club may now face a losing battle to keep their star player at Elland Road beyond the summer transfer window.
