Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur could now prioritise Leeds United keeper Illan Meslier as Jordan Pickford set for Everton stay

Leeds United could be facing growing interest from the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea for Illan Meslier this summer.

The three clubs have been rumoured to be looking for a goalkeeper this summer and along with the Frenchman, Everton’s Jordan Pickford was also on their radar.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano on 23 February, Pickford is set to commit his future to the Goodison Park outfit and is expected to put pen to paper on a new deal.

The Athletic reported in August 2022 that Manchester United view Meslier as their long-term number one amid David de Gea’s issues with playing out from the back.

Spurs have also seen Hugo Lloris’ performances decline and he’s got a couple of years more at his best so planning for his long-term replacement makes sense.

Phil Hay has claimed that Spurs eye Meslier to fulfil that role and Simon Phillips claims that Chelsea also are considering the French goalkeeper.

Leeds’ current form means that they’re heading for relegation and even if they survive, they are some way from even challenging for European places.

Meslier is going to get European football at the three aforementioned clubs even if it may not be next season.

They spend tens of millions on new signings every summer and are among the top spenders in Europe, especially Chelsea and Man United.

Leeds may hate to sell to a rival but if the offer is too good from the Old Trafford outfit and Meslier asks to leave the club, they may not be able to say no to him.
