‘Only at LUFC’, ‘Nightmare’, ‘Shocked’ – Many Leeds fans react after Thorp Arch news emerges
Everything had been going swimmingly for Leeds United, with all the parts of the promotion puzzle seemingly falling into place.
The Championship will restart with Leeds playing their remaining home games at Elland Road, and promotion and relegation have been confirmed.
However, Leeds hit their first major problem since the season was suspended on Wednesday when Jean-Kevin Augustin was injured in training at Thorp Arch – and fans are gutted.
Augustin has only made three cameo appearances since signing on loan in January.
Marcelo Bielsa’s rigorous training regime proved too much for him and he suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out of the last three games before the season was suspended.
That gave Augustin the chance to get himself fit and he seemed to be putting all the work in, and was given the all clear with weeks to go before the first Leeds fixture.
MOT Leeds News columnist Paul Robinson claimed that all the noises coming out of the club were good and that he was being earmarked for a major role in the run-in.
Unfortunately, all that work could be for nothing now after the latest injury news.
It looks like it’s a recurrence of his hamstring issue and there are plenty of Leeds fans who think he’s played his last for the club.
