Jesse Marsch could sanction Ayling Leeds United exit amid interest in Calvin Ramsay

Leeds United are reportedly making a last-ditch effort to sign Aberdeen right-back Calvin Ramsay who has been linked with Liverpool.

According to The Sun, the 18-year-old was on the Whites’ radar in January and has once again emerged as a target.

Cody Drameh was loaned out by the club in January while Jamie Shackleton, who prefers playing in midfield, was expected to be Luke Ayling’s deputy.

However, Shackleton has suffered injury woes and his future too, could be away from Elland Road.

Another player who Jesse Marsch could show the exit door this summer is Ayling.

Despite being a fan favourite, the Englishman has underperformed significantly this season.

He was even termed ‘Awful’ by David Phillips who commentated on the Whites’ recent win over Watford. [MOT Leeds News]

Ayling will turn 31 later this year and it must be admitted that his best days may be behind him.

While he could be a decent squad player, it makes little sense for the club to hoard players just based on how affable they are with the fanbase.

If they can generate a market for Ayling, then, by all means, they must consider selling him and getting Ramsay in as his replacement.

The Scottish full-back has terrific attacking numbers this season and would be a good fit for the Whites.

Until January 2022, he held the feat for having the most assists this season of any teenage defender in world football.

Marsch will be needing to make big decisions like this one in the coming weeks ahead of pre-season.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
