'Incredible', 'Absolute bargain' - These fans thrilled as player confirms Leeds move
Leeds United are closing in on yet another permanent, with Illan Meslier set to confirm his switch to Elland Road on Thursday.
The Whites have already confirmed the permanent signing of Helder Costa from Wolves after his loan move from Molineux was successful.
Victor Orta will be working on overdrive to make sure Marcelo Bielsa’s squad is ready for the Premier League, with Meslier’s move worth up to £5million.
It was Meslier himself who confirmed the news of his permanent arrival, with that move expected to be made public on Thursday.
“I will sign Thursday for three years with Leeds, it’s a great story,” he told Quest France.
“In Lorient, I was the number two choice in August 2019 (after the arrival of Paul Nardi). I had to make a choice. I always believed in it and I had the opportunity to prove myself in Leeds and it paid off.”
And Athletic journalist Phil Hay confirmed the deal would get done today.
Meslier from Lorient to Leeds on a permanent will be done today. Three year deal. Fee in the region of £5m. #lufc

It will be an interesting summer in the goalkeeping department at Elland Road, especially with the future of Kiko Casilla in the air.
The Spaniard made his first appearance against Sunday since his ban for racially abusing Charlton’s Jonathan Leko back in September.
We strongly believe that should be Casilla’s final game for the club, with the former Real Madrid man not the type of player who should be representing the Whites in the Premier League.
Meslier has been superb since being thrown into the deep end. The French youngster has kept six clean sheets in his nine appearances – making his case to take the number one shirt next season.
Many Leeds fans have reacted to the news, with the majority absolutely delighted that Meslier will be remaining in West Yorkshire for the foreseeable future.

This is fantastic news. Looks a great keeper.

If he had been keeper last year we would already be in the prem. Kiko cost us big time last year and there is always a mistake in him. His ban worked in our favour massively

Make a move to make a difference. Good lad 💪

He's been incredible, new country, new club, surely #2 keeper doesn't expect to get much game time & yet he was thrown in, with all the pressure, the weight of a city's expectation on his shoulders, and he was great!
Another strong candidate for YPOTY (but it belongs to Ben)!

Completely deserves it, you can tell the players trust him at the back and looked composed in the games when called upon. And for his age, to get 6 clean sheets in the last 9 games in a promotion push is testament to his character and his quality as a gk

I can't actually think of many realistic goalkeepers we could sign who i'd take Meslier out for. I don't think he'll be phased by playing in the Premier League, and anyone who plays for Leeds well can handle pressure. Glad we're keeping him.

I'm happy he's signing, at 20 he's got big potential to be a great keeper
But think people need to calm down a little on him. He's still barely had any decent saves to make yet or been tested out yet
Like that save Kiko made Sunday, I'm waiting for Illan to get a chance at one
