Ally McCoist claims Leeds target Ryan Kent is worth £30m
BT Sport pundit Ally McCoist has stated that if Leeds United or any club are to sign Ryan Kent, they would have to make an ‘unbelievable’ offer.
Kent has enjoyed yet another fantastic campaign for the Scottish giants, scoring 12 and assisting 14 en route to guiding Steven Gerrard’s men to the title.
It’s no surprise that the Englishman has been linked with a move away from the Ibrox Stadium this summer, and now McCoist has made claim about his future.
Discussing whether or not the highly-talented attacking sensational will leave this summer on BT Sport (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post), he said, “It might happen if they get an unbelievable offer. What’s he worth? £25-30 million right now. £25-30 million for Ryan Kent.
“You need Ryan Kent. These are the players you need to unlock defences, to get the ball, have the stepover: over left he’s away right and vice-versa.
“He goes and commits somebody, he gets by somebody and someone has to come to him so the defence opens up. He is absolutely vital to Rangers.”
Sign him up
Kent is going to be a wanted man this summer, but that price McCoist is quoting appears to be on the high side.
If the player has the will to leave and play in the Premier League and eventually challenge for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s first team.
He has previously stated that he is flattered by the interest shown in him but wasn’t willing to give a definitive answer about his plans.
That could be down to the fact that he’s rated very highly by Gerrard, who’s previously called Kent ‘magnificent’. [Rangers Twitter]
We have been linked with the player for a while as Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta are understood to be admirers of the player.
The 24-year-old could challenge Jack Harrison for a spot down our left wing, and given the fact he’s more of a goal threat than the Leeds man, Bielsa could opt to start him over Harrison.
That’s still a long way away, but we hope that we can sign Kent and push for a top-eight finish next season.
