Graham Smyth has detailed the stance of key Whites duo Marcelo Bielsa and Victor Orta on Leeds United linked Rangers star Ryan Kent.
The Whites have a long-standing interest in the 24-year-old, with Gers boss Steven Gerrard confirming last August that his side had rejected an opening bid that was “nowhere near” his valuation. [Clyde 1 Superscoreboard on Twitter]
Kent has since gone on to win the Scottish Premiership with Rangers, their first in ten seasons, with the Glasgow outfit two games away from invincibility.
Kent has been a key component in that title-winning side, scoring nine goals in 35 Premiership games, and the links to Leeds refuse to subside with the Scottish Sun claiming the Whites are lining up a summer swoop and may have to go as high as £15million to clinch a deal.
Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Smyth was asked for an update on a potential move for Kent on his personal Twitter profile.
He replied, “Orta really liked Kent and Bielsa too from what we’re led to believe. As for him being top class Premier League material, no guarantees. Just like there were none with Dallas, Ayling etc. Potential is there.”
Morning Jim. I think selling KP is the last thing on anyone's mind. Orta really liked Kent and Bielsa too from what we're led to believe. As for him being top class PL material, no guarantees. Just like there were none with Dallas, Ayling etc. Potential is there.

Won’t go away
We know there was interest last summer that was acted upon after the Whites lodged an official offer to Rangers which was knocked back.
If Bielsa and Orta were big fans then we can’t see how they would be any less enthused after the sensational campaign he has enjoyed.
He has been the main orchestrator of Rangers attacks and could offer a huge challenge to Jack Harrison on the left-hand side of midfield for Leeds.
Raphinha’s spot is safe and secure on the right but Harrison could do with intense competition on the other wing, something he’s not been getting from the disappointing Helder Costa who must be primed for the Elland Road exit door for this summer.

One sticking point, however, could be the prospect of Champions League football at Ibrox next season.
But if Leeds are serious about getting him then the lure of a move back down south of the border could prove too tempting for Kent.
