Leeds United vs Brighton: Three things you may have missed including staff scuffle with Fabian Hurzeler

Leeds United ended their season strong with a 1-0 win against Brighton.

There was little on the line for Daniel Farke’s side, but ending the season strongly at Elland Road, in front of the loyal home fans, would certainly have been the goal.

The Whites frustrated Brighton for large portions of the match and had plenty of chances of their own.

Then, Dominic Calvert-Lewin capitalised on a Brighton error to put the Whites 1-0 to the good, with celebrations left to follow.

Here are some moments from Leeds’ win against Brighton that you may have missed during the action in LS11.

Georginio Rutter gets mixed Elland Road welcome

Manager Farke made a rousing claim earlier in the week that Leeds need to increase their ambitions if he is to remain as the best manager for the job.

And the German’s comments and work this season have seemingly been appreciated by supporters. Unsurprisingly, ahead of kick-off against Brighton, the Elland Road crowd issued a round of applause for the Whites manager.

However, he was not the only one to be met warmly, as the West Stand shared the love for former player Georginio Rutter.

The Frenchman was selected to start on the bench for the Seagulls as fans provided an excellent reception for the forward who provided 26 goal contributions (eight goals and 16 assists) during his stint in LS11.

Later on in the half, both the Kop and the West Stand would also sing the former Whites star’s name.

However, when he came off the bench, there were quite a few audible boos. A mixed reception for Rutter.

Fourth official gets sarcastic boos from Elland Road

With it being the final game of the season at Elland Road, the crowd were certainly looking to have as much enjoyment as possible.

And in the fifth minute, their fun looked to be cut out.

The fourth official, Sam Allison, deflated a beach ball, which had made its way down from the stands to the sidelines.

The official’s actions did not endear himself to Elland Road, with supporters issuing a sarcastic round of boos.

Boos ultimately turned into cheers at the full-time whistle with the Whites securing a ninth home win in the Premier League.

Fabian Hurzeler and Leeds staff involved in full-time scuffle

Fabian Hurzeler will not have been a happy man after losing late to Leeds, and it appears the German lost his temper at the end of the match.

The Brighton boss and a member of the Leeds staff appeared to get involved in a tense moment with the Seagulls losing grip on their European push.

The Whites will not care too much, however, after a strong end to the season and a farewell for Sam Byram afforded at the end, as well.

Leeds’ 1-0 win will certainly please Farke, with his side digging deep to snatch the late win.
