Dallas: I’ve seen rumours that Bielsa will sign two-year deal
Stuart Dallas was on talkSPORT’s Breakfast show this morning after his heroics in the 2-1 win for Leeds United against Man City on Saturday.
Dallas got both goals as 10-man Leeds shocked Pep Guardiola and the rest of the Premier League at the Etihad.
He was typically humble about his own contribution to the game but heaped praise on Marcelo Bielsa after host Laura Woods asked him about recent reports that the manager is on the brink of signing a sensational two-year contract.
That would be a shift for the manager who has only previously signed one-year deals at Leeds.
“I’ve seen those rumours,” said Dallas on the Breakfast show. [talkSPORT, Monday, 9.30am]
“I don’t know what will happen. We’re all hoping he stays, though.
“What he’s done for us as individuals is incredible. We were a mid-table Championship team three years ago and now we’re mid-table in the Premier League. He has been incredible.
“Hats off to the hierarchy of the club who managed to get him here. I think he enjoys it, he loves the city and I hope he’s here for a long time to come.”
La Nacion said that Leeds are “very close” to agreeing a new two-year deal with Bielsa.
Two years would be incredible
It’s set to be an exciting summer for Leeds in the transfer window. But a new two-year contract for Marcelo Bielsa would be the biggest deal the club could do.
It would be a huge statement of intent and a massive boost for Leeds and the future.
Dallas has been linked to a new contract, too, and that would be huge as well.
He has gone from emergency utility man to player of the season, and his stock has risen dramatically this season.
The way he’s playing, he’s becoming an essential part of the Leeds midfield.
He’s joined Patrick Bamford and Kalvin Phillips as players most-improved under Marcelo Bielsa and it’s fantastic to see.
His finish for the second goal on Saturday was so cool, any top striker would have been proud of it.
And with Leeds in line for a multi-million payout for each position in the Premier League, it’s now looking like an amazing season.
Leeds will be looking to strengthen again this summer and if they get it right, next season could be a very exciting one for Leeds fans.
And, as well as Dallas, Bielsa’s stock is rising all the time. We’re lucky that he’s not the sort of person to be tempted by money and a move to a big club.
We think this season will have strengthened the bond between him and Leeds.
