Why Stuart Attwell has some explaining to do after Leeds United draw vs Sunderland
Stuart Attwell refereed an uneventful 0-0 draw between Leeds United and Sunderland on Sunday.
The Whites travelled to the Stadium of Light on 25 October, as stormy conditions affected the way the two teams played.
Chances for both teams were rare and it looked like only a major mistake from someone could unlock opportunities.
Attwell made some questionable decisions at the Stadium of Light and Daniel Farke will surely want answers from the officials.
It wasn't easy for anyone on the pitch, but the on-field officials could've let the game go a bit in certain moments.
Both teams will likely go into the dressing room satisfied with a point after riding out a storm in Wearside.
What Stuart Attwell got wrong for Leeds United
Leeds dominated Sunderland in the opening minutes as both sides tried to cope with the difficult weather conditions.
Attwell seemed whistle-happy from the get-go and, in the 11th minute, gave a foul against Dominic Calvert-Lewin for clearly insignificant contact on Luke O'Nien, despite the linesman, who was close to the situation, giving a throw-in in the Whites' favour.
In the 26th minute, Granit Xhaka didn't seem to get the ball after his challenge on Harry Wilson from behind and Brian Brobbey subsequently found himself through on goal, but James Trafford managed to pull off a save.
In the 35th minute, Nilson Angulo clearly pushed Jayden Bogle, but the in-field referee didn't see anything wrong with it.
Then, O'Nien seemed to get away with one as he challenged Calvert-Lewin for a loose ball and looked to use his arms to bring the striker down after a poor touch.
The second half was also a bit stop-start as Attwell continued to try and impose himself on the game.
Why Daniel Farke will take some positives from underwhelming draw vs Sunderland
Farke won't be pleased with the lack of creativity from his forward line, but there will be a few positives to take from the game.
The Whites' lack of potency up front wasn't surprising, as the German manager was forced into a few changes due to fitness issues.
However, the West Yorkshire outfit have kept another clean sheet in the Premier League.
The Peacocks have one of the best defences in the league, conceding just six goals.
Leeds are one of two teams, alongside Nottingham Forest, that have yet to concede in the opening 30 minutes of Premier League games this season.
A trip to the Vitality Stadium is up next for Farke and his side, where Bournemouth will provide another stern test.
