Leeds United's Anton Stach would have been watching closely as Jurgen Klopp was unveiled as Germany's new manager.

The European nation had a disappointing World Cup under Julian Nagelsmann, who opted not to take Stach with him to North America.

Since Nagelsmann's departure, Klopp's appointment has been no secret in the footballing world.

And now it has been made official by the German FA after the World Cup.

But for Stach, there was one moment in Klopp's first press conference on Friday that he will have been waiting to hear.

And it could signal good news for the Leeds midfielder heading into next season.

Stach has not been a German regular over the years and has only earned three caps since 2022.

But speaking in his press conference, Klopp put plenty of optimism out there for those on the fringes of the national team.

He stated: "There will be players who will get opportunities they aren't even counting on right now.

"I want to be bold. Anyone who can play for Germany should be prepared at some point."

Of course, Stach will certainly fall into that criteria and he may get plenty more chances for Germany now.

And that is exactly what he would have wanted to hear at Klopp's unveiling.

Why Stach will go full out for Euro 2028 chance

With the World Cup every four years, Stach has limited tournaments in his future at 27 years old.

So, with the next major competition set to be Euro 2028 in two years, that will be the perfect chance for him to make an impact on the international stage.

When that tournament comes around, the Leeds ace will be 29 years old, which is an excellent age for a midfielder in football.

The 2030 World Cup will see him at 31 years old and that is still young enough to make a push for the squad.

But with no international tournament experience yet, he will want that Euro 2028 chance to prove himself for 2030.

The best - and indeed only - way of doing that is by performing week in, week out for Leeds at club level.
