Daniel Farke could potentially face a dilemma with Jaka Bijol at Leeds United after his performance against Sunderland.

The Slovenia international started his first Premier League game for the Whites in almost two months at the Stadium of Light on 25 October.

Game time has been rare for the former Udinese centre-back at the West Yorkshire outfit since Nico Elvedi's arrival in the summer.

In the 0-0 draw at Sunderland, Bijol was one of Leeds' better players and showed why he should be getting more opportunities under Farke.

Last season, the 27-year-old defender became a key player for the Peacocks as they battled relegation.

With 49ers Enterprises making some quality additions to the squad in the summer, competition for places has increased at Elland Road.

Why Jaka Bijol could push for Leeds United exit in January

Bijol was solid at the back for Leeds in the draw against Sunderland, with the strong wind making life difficult, especially for defenders.

The Slovenia ace had a few nervy moments but kept the Black Cats' attack quiet for the most part, making 15 defensive contributions, winning one tackle, two of his three ground duels, and three of his four aerial duels, according to Sofascore.

Bijol had 60 touches in the game, completed 32 passes and attempted one shot, which was blocked.

Elvedi missed out at the Stadium of Light due to illness and surely won't be out for long.

Joe Rodon is also expected to return from his injury in the coming weeks, restoring the luxury of options Farke has at the back.

It wouldn't be surprising to see Bijol drop back to the bench once everyone is fit and a January exit could be on the cards if he continues to waste away at Elland Road.

What should Daniel Farke's goal be this season?

Farke was backed heavily in the summer, with big money spent on a few signings to improve the squad's quality.

The Whites' start to the season clearly suggests they could be competing for a European spot in the Premier League.

Last season, the West Yorkshire outfit finished 14th as they battled relegation, but they don't seem to be under threat of going down in the current campaign.

Getting knocked out of the Carabao Cup early would've certainly been disappointing for the German manager.

Farke had a decent FA Cup run last season and going to Wembley should once again be his goal at the Peacocks.

With the likes of Chelsea, Aston Villa, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur getting off to relatively disappointing starts, European qualification should be a realistic aim at Elland Road.

Will Bijol be there for that? Who knows.
