Tarik Muharemovic caught in 'nasty' incident in Leeds United draw vs Sunderland
Tarik Muharemovic is making a real name for himself in England.
Leeds United bit the bullet this summer, signing the unknown Bosnian for £34million from Sassuolo.
It's worked magically so far for Daniel Farke, who was forced to replace Pascal Struijk, who joined Brighton.
Muharemovic once again started in the heart of defence as Leeds travelled to Sunderland on Sunday afternoon.
It was a drab afternoon in the wind, ending in a 0-0 draw, with the defender forced into a battle with the returning Brian Brobbey throughout.
One moment typified that battle, with Muharemovic crashing onto the floor after a challenge with the Dutch striker.
Alan Smith admitted that it could have been much worse that it was.
When did Tarik Muahremovic get hurt?
It was a game packed with wild conditions, with not much genuine football on show throughout.
One contest in the first half saw Muharemovic pushed by Brobbey in the air, before falling onto his back.
Smith insisted that they can sometimes end much worse for a player when it's the lower area of the back concerned and how you fall.
Speaking live on Sky Sports Main Event, the co-commentator reacted as the defender hit the ground hard after an aerial duel.
"The base of the back can be nasty, although it looks like he's okay," Smith noted.
How did Tarik Muharemovic perform vs Sunderland?
Once again, he was as composed as ever.
Brobbey is probably the hardest battle you can expect from a striker in the Premier League, outside of Erling Haaland, of course.
And while he was coming back from an injury, he hardly made an impact.
Muharemovic dealt with most things thrown his way, and also came very close to scoring with a back-post header from a corner.
With Nico Elvedi ruled out with illness overnight, Jaka Bijol stepped into the back five and it was crucial that he was helped after little football recently.
There were some nervy moments from the Slovenian, while Muharemovic kept it calm throughout with some real splitting balls through the middle of the park.
Muharemovic also was hit by James Trafford late on, staying in the wars, but his warrior spirit shone through in this tough evening.
