Georginio Rutter may not have played against Leeds United at the weekend, but he shared a nice moment with Daniel Farke after the game.

The 24-year-old spent 18 months at Elland Road prior to joining Brighton in a £40million deal in August 2024.

Georginio had been Leeds' record signing prior to James Trafford's big-money move to Elland Road this summer.

He did not feature in Leeds' 1-1 draw at the Amex Stadium on Saturday afternoon due to an injury problem.

Luka Vuskovic scored in the second half to cancel out Jayden Bogle's opener, with Leeds failing to see out a rare away win at Brighton.

Despite that, Farke was clearly in a jovial spirit at full-time amid a previously unseen moment involving Georginio.

Daniel Farke 'sneaks up' on Georginio Rutter

Rutter was linked with a surprise return to Leeds earlier in the summer, but nothing came of it.

The former France Under-21s international is clearly still well liked at Leeds.

That was clear just after the full-time whistle on the South Coast, as highlighted by BBC reporter Jonathan Buchan.

"We saw Georginio wondering around didn’t we, big smile on his face," he said on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast.

"Him and Daniel Farke shared a lovely moment at full-time. Georgi was talking to Leeds' players and Farke sort of snuck up behind them and said ‘hey, don’t talk to him!’, then they all had a big laugh.

"Then you saw Daniel asking how his recovery was and they had a big hug. It was really nice to see."

Leeds fans certainly weren't complaining when Georginio's name was left off the teamsheet as they know exactly what he is capable of on his day.

How does Georginio's Brighton record compare with time at Leeds?

Georginio has made 69 appearances for Brighton in all competitions.

That is three more than he made in his time with Leeds, which technically spread over three seasons even if he was only around for 18 months.

The Frenchman scored eight times for the Whites, though his game was about far more than finding the net.

He already has 11 goals for Brighton, each of which have come in the Premier League.

The Seagulls will feel they are getting value for their money, while Leeds fans will no doubt love to see him back in West Yorkshire one day soon.
