Lukas Nmecha exposes glaring Leeds United problem after Liverpool victory

Lukas Nmecha's struggles for Leeds United in their win against Liverpool will not have gone unnoticed by Daniel Farke.

The Whites came out on top in the battle between the Premier League sides in Chicago, winning 4-2.

The Reds had taken a two-goal lead into the break, but goals from Brenden Aaronson and Sean Longstaff, with a Dominic Calvert-Lewin brace secured victory.

Nmecha started the contest, but was replaced by Calvert-Lewin at half-time, after a dismal first 45 minutes.

The difference was telling, and it leaves serious question marks over the German's long-term future at Elland Road.

It also exposes a glaring issue that Farke has ahead of the upcoming season.

How did Lukas Nmecha perform in Leeds' win vs Liverpool?

MOT Leeds News has already covered Nmecha's clever goal in Leeds' 1-0 win over Sunderland.

However, he could not replicate it against Andoni Iraola's side and that sums up the issue with him.

He recorded just 18 touches in the clash at Soldier Field, with only one of them coming in the opposition box, per Fotmob.

The 27-year-old had two shots, with one on target, for a 50 per cent accuracy in front of goal.

He was dispossessed three times, and won five of seven ground duels, for a 57 per cent success rate.

Those numbers simply are not good enough after being handed the opportunity to start.

Why Nmecha's showing is such an issue for Leeds

Calvert-Lewin's brace paints Nmecha's performance in an even worse light.

The Peacocks need someone who can step up consistently, incase their starting striker is injured.

The seven-cap international has not proved that he can be that guy for the LS11 outfit consistently, despite promising flashes.

In his debut season with the Thorp Arch outfit, he notched six goals in 31 top-flight appearances, which is considerably lower than the 14 strikes that the Englishman managed.

The Yorkshire side may have to dip into the market to find somebody who can provide more of a challenge to the former Everton ace, otherwise they may not be able to achieve their ambitions.

They have been linked with Liam Delap, Nicolo Tresoldi and Ermedin Demirovic, but whether a move materialises before the window closes remains to be seen.
