Leif Davis has sent a message after Leeds United secured the Championship title on Saturday.

Daniel Farke's side leapfrogged Burnley with a last-gasp Manor Solomon strike in the 2-1 victory over Plymouth at Home Park (3 May).

The ex-Whites ace, Davis, was sold to Ipswich Town in 2022, but he responded to his former teammates' exploits after a dramatic final day, which saw them take his place in the Premier League.

Davis sends Bamford message as Leeds secure title

One of Davis' teammates at Elland Road was Patrick Bamford, who has been linked with an exit in recent months.

The 31-year-old has featured just 17 times in the league this season as his role has been reduced due to injury issues.

However, he took to Instagram to celebrate the Yorkshire outfit's achievement, posting a selection of images from the title lift, with two trophy emojis and the Marching On Together hashtag.

Davis replied to the post with a clapping emoji and a heart.

Bamford could leave Leeds in the summer

Leeds need a major squad rebuild if they are to have any chance of staying in the top-flight next season.

The gap between the elite level and the second tier is at an all-time high, with Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich set to come straight back down.

There is no room for passengers in Farke's squad, and that could spell disaster for Bamford, who has constantly struggled to break his way into the starting line-up this season.

The Englishman has been linked with a move to Wrexham after they secured promotion to the league that the Whites are set to leave and it may be time to sanction his departure.

The veteran notched 17 goals in the top-flight in the 2020/21 campaign but failed to hit those heights in the two following seasons with two and four respectively, before relegation back to the second tier.

Since his return to the EFL, he has struck just eight times, with zero goals this season, suggesting that his best form is far behind him.

It makes sense for both parties to move on at this stage, although it will no doubt be an emotional farewell.
