Darren England will be the referee in charge of Leeds United's clash with Manchester United.

The 40-year-old has been refereeing in the Premier League since 2020.

Prior to his top-flight ascension, he'd spent a number of years officiating in the English Football League (EFL).

England has worked his way up from refereeing in non-league football at the start of his career, and has been a FIFA-listed referee since 2022.

His latest appointment will be to take charge of a sure-to-be feisty game of football between Leeds and Man United at Elland Road on Sunday.

And for the superstitious Whites fan, news of England's appointment will be a very strong omen of a victory for Daniel Farke's side this weekend.

How many Leeds games has Darren England refereed?

The Premier League have confirmed that England will be holding the whistle for Leeds' game against Man United on Sunday.

His assistants are Scott Ledger and Matthew Wilkes, the fourth official is Andrew Kitchen, VAR is Peter Bankes and assistant VAR is Josh Smith.

As detailed via Transfermarkt, England has taken charge of 16 Leeds games during his refereeing career.

Of those 16 matches, the Whites have won seven of them, lost four and drawn five.

However, Leeds are on a superb run of form with England as referee, having won three-straight games on the bounce with him.

The most recent game, and indeed win, England has overseen for Leeds came against Norwich in the FA Cup back in March.

Gabriel Gudmundsson was amongst the scorers that day in a 3-0 win for the Whites.

All of those have been at Elland Road, and each time the Whites have scored three goals against Norwich, Chelsea and Middlesbrough.

Going even further, Leeds have lost just once in their last 11 games with England in all competitions, dating all the way back to February 2019.

So, it's fair to say that England is definitely Leeds' good luck charm, but can the same be said for Man United?

What is Man United's record with England as referee?

Interestingly, England has refereed far more Leeds games than Man United ones, as he's only taken charge of Red Devils games nine times.

But in that time, the Old Trafford outfit have won six of those, drawn one and lost the other two.

Sunday's visitors to Elland Road will also be pretty happy with England's booking then, as they too share a strong record with him in the middle.

Having said that, the last time they had England holding the whistle was on matchday one of this season, which ended in a 2-0 defeat to Hull City.

Perhaps, then, their luck with this weekend's referee has run out, which would be music to the ears of Leeds supporters everywhere if that's the case.
