Leeds United may actually be happy after the Premier League have granted a Crystal Palace request.

Leeds are set to face Palace in December, but the scheduling has proved controversial due to the Londoners' involvement in the UEFA Europa Conference League and Carabao Cup.

Oliver Glasner had asked for the Leeds fixture to be moved to avoid playing twice in three days, and so his side have more rest before their quarter-final clash with Arsenal.

However, that may play into the Elland Road outfit's favour, due to the new date that the clash with be played.

When has Leeds vs Crystal Palace been moved to?

Leeds' clash with Palace has now been rescheduled, with the new date and time confirmed by the Premier League.

The Whites took to X on 11 November to announce the change had been granted, and the clash will now be played at 20:00 GMT on 20 December.

That is opposed to the original time of 14:00 on 21 December, which would have supposedly put Palace at a huge disadvantage.

Beren Cross claimed that the club were willing to move the fixture due to the added revenue and better atmosphere.

Why Leeds now have the advantage

Daniel Farke's side were meant to face the Eagles on a Sunday afternoon when the atmosphere may not have been at its best.

Now, the Peacocks will be buoyed by a rapturous fanbase in a night game, when the LS11 crowd is at its best.

They may need their supporters, as they may be entrenched in a relegation battle by that point, with a brutal fixture list coming up.

The Whites will face Aston Villa, Manchester City, Chelsea and Liverpool in their next four, with the latter two taking place at the start of December.

Leeds' December fixtures:

  • 3 December: Leeds vs Chelsea
  • 6 December: Leeds vs Liverpool
  • 14 December: Brentford vs Leeds
  • 20 December: Leeds vs Crystal Palace
  • 28 December: Sunderland vs Leeds

They then face Brentford, Palace, Sunderland then Liverpool again, to round off a tough festive period.

Any victories that they can achieve will be crucial, and an evening clash under the lights at home, may be the perfect tonic to kickstart their survival bid, if it is necessary.
