Jurgen Klopp may have Anton Stach regret after Leeds midfielder's Germany display vs Netherlands

Jurgen Klopp gave Leeds United midfielder Anton Stach a chance as Germany drew against the Netherlands on Thursday.

The former Liverpool manager may already be having second thoughts about bringing on the Whites' player as a second-half substitute on 24 September.

Felix Nmecha gave the visitors the lead at the Johan Cruyff Arena at around the half-hour mark.

Stach came on in the 64th minute to replace Germany's goalscorer, but the occasion in the UEFA Nations League seemed to get to him.

The West Yorkshire outfit's midfielder played his first competitive minutes for his national team against the Netherlands since 2022.

Klopp may regret bringing the 27-year-old off the bench after a lacklustre display.

How Anton Stach fared in Germany draw vs Netherlands

Stach hasn't been at his best at Leeds this season, having played one of his worst games in the 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace before the international break.

The midfielder has carried that poor form to his national side, failing to make a mark in 26 minutes against the Netherlands.

According to Sofascore, Stach completed six of his eight passes and had 11 touches of the ball, highlighting his lack of involvement, which isn't ideal for a midfielder.

The West Yorkshire outfit's ace lost possession twice and had a total progression of -0.1 meters, suggesting he struggled to move the ball forward.

Stach also left a lot to be desired defensively, losing both of his ground duels, two of his aerial duels, being dribbled past once and committing one foul.

It didn't help that Cody Gakpo scored a late equaliser in the 92nd minute as the game ended 1-1.

Daniel Farke has relied heavily on Stach since signing him from TSG Hoffenheim, but the German manager isn't afraid to drop underperformers from his starting lineup.

Daniel James and Wilfried Gnonto were influential for the Whites in the Championship, but struggled for game time last season.

Joel Piroe didn't get an opportunity to stake his claim in the West Yorkshire outfit's plans after Premier League promotion.

Farke has no reason to keep Stach in the team if he can't deliver consistently.

Sean Longstaff is rearing for his chances, while Ilia Gruev has also returned from his injury.

The Germany international needs to step up or risk losing his place at Elland Road and his national team.
