Joe Rodon blows away with 'absolutely brilliant' Leeds moment vs Brentford

Joe Rodon produced a moment of defensive magic prior to sustaining an untimely injury in Leeds United's clash with Brentford.

The Wales international started at the back alongside Tarik Muharemovic and Jaka Bijol for the second league game running.

Rodon was a rock at the back against Nottingham Forest last week and likewise in the first half against Brentford.

That was prior to limping off with an injury that will cause some concern for Daniel Farke.

With the game locked at 0-0, Rodon clearly pulled something and went to ground clutching the back of his leg.

Before that, he showed exactly what he is capable of with a superb intervention to deny Brentford.

Rodon has struck up a good partnership with Muharemovic, so his injury has come at a very bad time.

It was 11 minutes into the clash with Brentford that Rodon showed exactly what he is capable of.

Kevin Schade thought he had nicked the ball to race clean through on James Trafford's goal.

However, Rodon somehow got a boot to the ball when going to ground to halt the attack.

Had he got it wrong, it would have been a straight red. Instead, he pulled it off to perfection.

Speaking on Sky Sports' live coverage of the match, co-commentator Don Goodman said: "It may well be an absolutely brilliant challenge from Joe Rodon to take the chance away from Kevin Schade. He just gets a toe on it."

Not long after Rodon went off, with Nico Elvedi coming on in his place, Leeds went behind to a Schade goal.

Rodon has already been replaced and it may well be that Farke makes a second change at the interval.

Brentford were the better team in the first 45 minutes and deserved their goal when it arrived through Schade.

The Bees had 63 per cent of the ball and four shots on target compared to zero for Leeds.

Leeds' lack of any sort of attacking threat shows why Farke needs to find a solution at the break.

Harry Wilson is among the substitutes and seems an obvious choice to bring on, or Farke may look to tinker with his formation and turn to Ao Tanaka.

Either way, Leeds have been pretty terrible and cannot continue as they are.
