Dan James is rightly on the periphery as Leeds United drew against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Wales international was once again on the bench as Elland Road hosted the Eagles on 20 September.

It was a rather uneventful game from the Whites as it ended in a 0-0 draw.

James replaced Jayden Bogle around the hour mark but couldn't do much at Elland Road.

While the West Yorkshire outfit found relative success in the second half, the 28-year-old winger had little part in it.

The Welshman was a passenger after he came off the bench and that has been his story for around a year now.

What's next for Dan James at Leeds United?

James has struggled at Leeds since promotion to the Premier League and injuries haven't helped him.

After starring for the Whites in the Championship, the winger has barely been able to do much for them in the English top flight.

Last season, the attacker lost his place in the starting lineup after dealing with multiple fitness issues and it doesn't look like he'll get it back.

Wilfried Gnonto left for pastures new, joining Fiorentina on loan in the summer to get regular game time.

It may be time for James to do the same, as his career has stagnated at Elland Road.

James had an opportunity to show Daniel Farke he can still be a difference-maker for Leeds.

Instead, the winger spent 23 minutes on the pitch doing next to nothing.

According to Sofascore, the Wales international had 11 touches of the ball and managed to attempt just three passes, two of which were accurate.

When James had the ball, he mostly didn't know what to do with it, losing possession seven times and failing to succeed in any of his three dribble attempts.

The former Manchester United ace didn't contribute much defensively either, losing all four of his ground duels and one aerial duel.

It's time to have a tough conversation about James, a fan favourite, who no longer seems to be at a level to help the West Yorkshire outfit progress in the coming future.
