Italian media in agreement on Leeds loanee Lucas Perri after latest Torino display
Leeds United loanee Lucas Perri made his fourth Serie A appearance for Torino on Monday night.
The 28-year-old goalkeeper completed a season-long loan switch to the Italian outfit this summer.
Torino do have the option to purchase Perri, which would bring to an end a disappointing chapter in his career with Leeds.
Having signed from Lyon last year, he'd proven himself to be a quality shot-stopper in Ligue 1, and had shone in his native Brazil with Botafogo too.
But after failing to cement himself as the Whites' starting keeper last term, Daniel Farke always looked likely to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer.
So, how is he getting on with Torino as he potentially looks to win a permanent contract with the Turin-based side?
What's been said about Lucas Perri display in Torino vs Udinese?
Monday night saw Torino take on Udinese in matchday six of the 2026-27 Serie A season.
The Bull ran out 2-1 winners over Udinese, moving Ignazio Abate's side up to 12th in the Italian top flight.
They're in a solid run of form at present, with only one defeat from their last four in the league as well as recording two wins in that time.
However, despite picking up three points on Monday, Italian media weren't overly impressed with Perri's performance between the sticks.
Toro News said: "Inactive for much of the first half, he conceded with his first real shot on target, when [Jurgen] Ekkelenkamp beat him with a diagonal shot that he could do little to prevent.
"In the second half, he was mostly called upon to perform routine duties, but his exits were not entirely convincing.
"In the 70th minute, he parried Kamara's powerful low cross. 5.5."
Meanwhile, Eurosport Italy wrote: "He was rarely called upon during the match despite Udinese's possession of the ball.
"But he was good at thwarting a dangerous cross-shot from [Hassane] Kamara. Six."
So, are these reflections fair based on the underlying numbers Perri put up against Udinese?
How many saves did Perri make vs Udinese?
Since joining Torino in late August, Perri has started all five games he's been eligible to in all competitions.
This was just the second win he's been a part of for them, as he tries to make the starting spot his own ahead of 20-year-old Diego Mascardi.
Per FotMob, Perri failed to make a single save against Udinese, with the away side scoring with their only shot on target from 15 attempts.
He registered a goals prevented number of -0.81, was accurate on just 62 per cent of his passes and 32 per cent on his long ball attempts.
These numbers certainly suggest that the assessments made by Italian media on his performance were fair.
So, he will surely have to improve considerably if Torino are to feel comfortable triggering any permanent deal for him this term.
