How Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be impacted by suspension latest before Sunderland vs Leeds United
Dominic Calvert-Lewin will already have his eyes fixed on Leeds United's trip to face Sunderland.
The England international is in electric form as he continues to find the net consistently.
That continued against Manchester United as he combined with Tarik Muharemovic from a corner to bag the equaliser.
His improvised finish was his fifth of the campaign in all competitions so far.
The 29-year-old will certainly be keen to add to that as the Whites look ahead to an away day at the Stadium of Light.
It now has to be questioned how Calvert-Lewin will fare as Sunderland prepare a forced change.
Why Sunderland will be hampered vs Leeds United
The Black Cats were the surprise package of last season in their first year back in the top flight.
That ended with them securing a place in the Europa League.
Things haven't quite been so positive to begin the new campaign as Regis Le Bris' side are coming off the back of four consecutive defeats in the Premier League.
The latest came away to Bournemouth as goals from Marcus Tavernier and Evanilson made the difference.
The Black Cats made life easier for the hosts on Sunday as Kevin Danso was sent off for a last-man challenge.
His professional foul comes with a one-match ban, which will be served against Leeds.
That will require a slight change in approach for Daniel Farke, but could serve as an advantage to Calvert-Lewin.
Who could Dominic Calvert-Lewin face vs Sunderland?
With the 28-year-old set to miss the Stadium of Light clash, Le Bris has very little option for his replacement.
It is likely that Luke O'Nien will come in from the start as a direct alternative for Danso.
The 31-year-old came on against Bournemouth and could be preparing for his second Premier League start of the season.
He could feature alongside Omar Alderete, who started at the Vitality.
The Paraguayan lost two of three duels on the day, while O'Nien only put up a 50 per cent aerial duel win rate.
That will be music to the ears of Calvert-Lewin who will be looking to make his presence felt against Sunderland.
Things may be made easier against that back-two, especially given the difference in profile to Danso, who would have likely started against Leeds if not for his red card.
