Everything said about Dominic Calvert-Lewin on Match of the Day after Leeds draw vs Man United
Dominic Calvert-Lewin secured a point for Leeds United against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
The Whites were looking to bounce back following their first defeat of the season against Arsenal last week.
Tensions were certainly high at Elland Road, with no love lost between the Whites and Red Devils.
Intense tackles were flying throughout the fixture, but it was Leeds' opposition that would ultimately take the lead.
However, Bryan Mbeumo's first-half strike would be cancelled out by Calvert-Lewin just a few minutes into the second half of the 1-1 draw.
And the Englishman has been the centre of the Leeds talking points in the aftermath on BBC's Match of the Day.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin hailed for 'genius' vs Man United
Leeds' equaliser was far more than just Calvert-Lewin being in the right place at the right time.
That is at least according to former Premier League goalkeeper Shay Given, who was left impressed with the Elland Road forward's attacking intelligence.
His movement has been pinpointed as being key in the lead-up to the goal.
Speaking on BBC's Match of the Day 2, Given couldn't help but hide his awe at how Calvert-Lewin and Tarik Muharemovic worked together for the equaliser.
He stated: "You see Calvert-Lewin and Muharemovic here coming together, a little chat before the set-play. You flick it on, big man, you go round the back, and I'll do the rest.
"But sometimes simplicity is genius; the big man flicks it on, and Calvert-Lewin bangs it in. It's a brilliant finish from Calvert-Lewin."
The superlatives for the LS11 striker would not end there though, with Dion Dublin chiming in on the Englishman after.
Dublin said: "I just think if you can keep him fit, we know how good he can be; we've seen how good he can be in an Everton shirt.
"If you can relight that, he's six foot five, he's an absolute monster, and he's now getting into some really good form. Keep him fit, and Leeds can be really dangerous. "
Calvert-Lewin has certainly been impressive for the Yorkshire outfit since making the move last season.
The Englishman has scored 20 goals in all competitions since the start of 2025-26, and so far it seems there is no sign of him slowing down.
Shay Given and Dion Dublin share telling exchange over Leeds' European hopes
Calvert-Lewin was not the only strong topic emerging on Match of the Day, with the two pundits issuing a response about the Whites' chances in Europe.
Presenter the question, with Dublin whispering "Maybe" while Given jokingly stated: "Not in here, Gabby."
Of course, neither pundit was making a serious prediction, but the fact that the question was entertained in such a positive fashion reflects the growing optimism surrounding Daniel Farke's side.
Leeds have shown enough in the early stages of the season to make people take notice, and now it is up to the Whites to continue that on as the campaign progresses.
