Bobby Kamwa's name may not be immediately familiar to Leeds United fans.

He moved to Leeds with his family from Cameroon aged nine, and would join the Whites' academy ranks four years later.

July 2020 saw him sign his first professional contract at Elland Road, penning a two-year deal.

Unfortunately for the versatile forward, he would never make a competitive first-team appearance for Leeds.

At the conclusion of the 2021-22 season, Kamwa would be released by the Whites, forcing him to make his way in the game through the lower levels.

Now with League Two side Bristol Rovers, he's once again showing the ability that had Leeds willing to offer him professional terms.

What did Bobby Kamwa do for Bristol Rovers on Saturday?

After spending two seasons with Burton Albion and Newport County, Kamwa ended up signing for Bristol Rovers this summer.

Now 26, he's been plying his trade at League Two level for a number of years, but did reach League One with Burton.

He's proven himself to be a quality player in the fourth tier, and that was reaffirmed again on Saturday.

Bristol Rovers travelled to Crewe for a League Two clash on Saturday, with the Alex running out 3-1 winners.

In footage shared via Sky Sports Football on X, Kamwa scored Rovers' only goal of the game, and it was something truly special.

Picking the ball up mid-way inside his own half, Kamwa takes a few strides forward before unleashing an effort after spotting the Crewe keeper off his line.

Aided by the sun glaring into the Crewe shot-stopper's face, the ball flies over his head and into the back of the net for a goal of the season contender.

So, how is Kamwa getting on at the Memorial Stadium, and why does he look set to play a crucial role for Steve Evans this season?

Where Kamwa is amongst League Two's best at his position

The defeat to Crewe was Bristol Rovers' ninth game of their League Two campaign so far.

Kamwa has appeared in all nine of those games with seven coming as starts, whilst he's also notched three goals.

The Gas currently sit fifth in the fourth tier, and after a challenging first season back at the level after relegation last term, they'll be looking for a big promotion push this year.

Per FotMob, Kamwa's 6.58 touches in the opposition box per 90 minutes ranks him in the top 5.2 percentile of all League Two left wingers this season.

Meanwhile, his 0.52 goals and 3.29 shots per game rank him in the leading 9.4 and 14.6 percentiles of his positional rivals.

So, there will be many at Thorp Arch delighted to see on of Leeds' former academy prospects carving out a good career for himself in the EFL.
