Alfred Schreuder will not be the new Leeds manager after he flew back to Holland following talks with the board, according to Phil Hay.

The Dutch coach was seen at Elland Road on Sunday during the club's 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, and was believed to be a top candidate for the job.

However on Monday afternoon (13 February) The Athletic's Hay reported that he is no longer being considered for the position and has instead flown back to Holland, with the club in discussions with other candidates.

"Hearing that Alfred Schreuder no longer being considered for the Leeds job," he wrote on his personal Twitter account (13 February).

"Has gone back to Holland and won’t be appointed. Discussions now continuing with other candidates. Skubala continuing to work with the squad in the meantime."

Huge

Fans were never convinced that Schreuder was the right man for the job considering he got sacked by Ajax just last month, and it now seems as though they're getting their wish.

Schreuder was manager of Club Brugge when they won the league last season, but he struggled in Amsterdam with an elite side and a move to England never really looked like a great fit.

Leeds United

The club have already failed to appoint Carlos Corberan, Arne Slot and talks with Andoni Iraola remain at a standstill but aren't completely deal according to reports.

It's been over a week since Jesse Marsch was sacked and very little progress has been made on his replacement, and with a huge game against Everton at the weekend in the relegation race to come, something needs to happen quickly.

On this occasion though the board have made the right decisions with fans ultimately not convinced, it would have been hard to get behind him in a period where the club must be united.
