Daniel Farke has Thorp Arch personnel to thank as Leeds United top Premier League running metric
Daniel Farke may owe a couple of thanks to the medical and physio staff at Thorp Arch for the tremendous work they’ve done to keep Leeds United players so fit this season.
The Whites are at the top of the Premier League for the most distance covered by any team, and if you told fans that at the start of the season, they would laugh at you.
Farke has had to deal with a fair share of injury problems during his time at Elland Road, but everything seems to have clicked at the right time behind the scenes.
Though there are a couple of exceptions with some players, most of Leeds’ best individuals have stayed fit for the entire campaign.
Farke has Leeds on the verge of Premier League safety, and that sentence may never have been said if it weren’t for the job being done back at Thorp Arch.

This is why Leeds owe thanks to physios and medical staff
Leeds’ 3-1 win over Burnley took them to 43 points, a tally that no side has ever been relegated with in the Premier League era.
Though it’s not mathematically guaranteed yet, the job is almost done, and Farke has done it without the major stress of having players away for prolonged periods of time.
| Player | Injury | Return date |
| Ilia Gruev | Knee | Unknown |
| Gabriel Gudmundsson | Thigh | Mid May |
Anton Stach suffered ligament damage in the FA Cup win over West Ham last month and somehow managed to make a quick return for the semi-final against Chelsea.
Not only that, but Gabriel Gudmundsson took a hit while away with Sweden during the last international break, but once again, he made a swift recovery.
Leeds have suffered the least amount of injuries in the Premier League this season, and despite this, Match of the Day provided information that the Whites have covered the most distance in the league.
Before the weekend’s games took place, Leeds were top for distance covered with 3901.4 kilometres, with Arsenal second at 3889.5, and Brighton third with 3879.6.
This wouldn’t be possible without the staff at Thorp Arch doing such a good job.
How have Leeds’ injury-prone players got on?
There were concerns when Leeds signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin, both over his form and fitness issues.
However, the striker has stayed fit and firing for the Whites this campaign, even earning a call-up to the England squad in March.

Lukas Nmecha had fitness issues with Wolfsburg, but has already played more games this term with the Whites than he did with the Bundesliga outfit in his last four seasons in Germany.
Dan James seems like the only anomaly when it comes to Leeds players who usually struggle with their fitness.
But in his case, his repetitive setbacks now have his future at Elland Road looking bleak, with a possible summer move on the cards.
